Department News

The Firefighters Association continues to work hard in their fundraising efforts. The monies from these events are put towards the purchase of new equipment for the firefighters.

Most recently the Association, along with the Chief, have put together their funds to purchase and install a new Will-Burt Night Scan Lighting Unit on Rescue 1. Similar to the one pictured here.

In the past, the Association has raised and spent thousands of dollars on new and improved equipment for this department. In doing so, they have helped keep the operating budget on the Town side in check. I commend them and I hope that the Community continues to support their efforts.

I would like to thank all the members who helped in the Lighting of the Common and the Santa Claus Parade, especially David Furno. Great Job!

The Fire Department Christmas Party was held on December 10, 2005. A great time was had by all. The Association honored the following members for their years of service to the Department; Retired Chief Phil Brule, EMT Linda Nadeau, EMT Raymond Nadeau and EMT Alberta Collins. Each received a nice wrist watch and a plaque from the Board of Selectmen. Thank you for your years of support.

The Town of Douglas took delivery of a new 75' Pierce Aerial Quint. This vehicle replaces a 1976 Maxim. The Douglas Fire Department received a federal grant for this vehicle from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The town only had to spend $25,000 for this vehicle. The truck was purchased from Minuteman Fire Apparatus. This vehicle in now in service and I would like to thank all who helped support this grant and all who worked hard in receiving this grant.

A full-size picture of the new Ladder 1 is on the Apparatus page.

The Douglas Fire Department thanks all of the residents of Douglas for their support.

As always stay safe and keep well.
